Our inflatable packers are differentiated by IPI’s contra-wound inflatable element design. This design allows our technology to exhibit best-in-class recovery over other inflatable elements available in the marketplace, a robustness, making them ideal for setting in non-standard applications like open hole, out-of-round pipe, perforations, scale, milled windows etc. and a true bi-directional (anchored) seal in open or cased hole. Since the founding of IPI, we have designed more than 900 types of packer elements to suit the needs of clients across the globe.
In this time, the IPI team has manufactured over 17,000 packer elements. IPI has supplied packers and associated equipment to all continents, including Antarctica, in support of challenging, high pressure and high temperature (HPHT), onshore and offshore conditions.
IPI as an independent company is continually developing our capabilities to be at the forefront of packer element technology and as such re-invests greater than 10% of our revenue into R&D projects. Being privately owned allows IPI to have a very nimble management structure, enabling business and engineering decisions to be made quickly. The end user benefit of such a structure is evidenced in our short cycle time deliveries and our responsiveness in the development of customized solutions.
We have a dedicated team of R&D engineers working on design, analytical modeling, construction methods and elastomer development and testing to further improve our services and product offerings to our clients. Although we have various designs, our materials and construction methods are highly scalable. This scalability is further leveraged by having analytical modeling software that can provide real time performance predictions based on proposed designs. This allows us to rapidly vary diameters, lengths, thicknesses and have clear limits on performance characteristics to allow for effective changes for both standard products and customized solutions.

Stuart recently joined IPI as the Director of Oil and Gas, bringing with him 15 years of diverse experience in the industry, with a strong focus on inflatable packers. His extensive background encompasses a variety of roles, including field engineering, operations management, sales, and business development. This breadth of expertise, coupled with his international experience in markets across North America, Europe, Australia, and the Middle East, positions Stuart to effectively lead and expand IPI’s oil and gas operations on a global scale. Stuart holds a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Aberdeen and a Master’s degree in Finance from City University of London. His robust technical foundation and financial acumen uniquely empower him to drive strategic initiatives and foster growth within the company.
